God does not ask us to outperform, outgive, or outdo our friends and neighbors. God asks us to be faithful with what He has given us. No matter how “little” or “small” our lives may be, if we give God what we have, He will use us to accomplish big things for Him. This was a lesson point taught at JAM last fall. Don’t we all need to hear this? This particular point has stuck with me and I pray that our kids will also hold fast to this truth. Being a kid in 2020 isn’t the easiest of tasks. Our kids are bombarded with so many unnecessary hurdles to jump and tons of false teaching. It’s everywhere…school, social media, and entertainment, just to name a few.
Browsing the internet last week I came across a statement, but I don’t remember to whom to give credit for the quote. Basically, the article said that time is of the essence. We need to “reach a generation before they need to be rescued.” At JAM, we strive to teach God’s simple truths to young hearts, while building relationships. Each session we incorporate music, videos, and scripture to make the word of God clear and simple. We worship, we learn, we eat, and we make time to play and be silly. Kids will get to interact with each other and with adult volunteers in large and small group settings. Our volunteers truly have a heart for making a lasting Kingdom impact on our LV kids and their friends.
A new JAM session for kids, Kindergarten through 5th grade, is about to start on February 5th. We will meet on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of February, March, and April from 5:30-7:00 pm. The title of our new lesson series is Crazy Little Thing Called Love! Love can be misunderstood. It is not a romantic feeling or magical experience. Love is a decision. It is to be the hallmark of EVERY child of God. What a timely lesson for our kids and something for which our culture is in desperate need. Consider this an invitation to bring your kids, your grandkids, your neighbor’s kids, and all their friends! We would LOVE to have them! – AMY SIMMONS
