Letter from Morgan

Lake Valley,

For the last few years, I have shared with you a written reflection of both the most recent year and the year to come. It seems as if I just completed my thoughts for the year 2017, and now 2019 has already knocked on the door. As with most years, 2018 had many encouraging moments and also its share of hardships. During the year, we walked with Dru and Jo Dodson through a few health scares. You cared for Rhonda and me, as I struggled with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. These are just two of a number of events that caused us to rely on God for strength and provision. As someone mentioned to me recently, it is faith-building to watch how God provides for the Church. He gives us just what we need and at just the right times, whether that need is leadership, resources, or vision. God has carried us through this past year and we are grateful.

The year 2019 is shaping up to be a good year, as many FOR US ministries continue to gain strength. Our Home Groups are being supported well by Community Shepherds who give sacrificially of their time for the body. The Ministry of Women has made some great strides this year and will continue to build momentum. We will launch a marriage training opportunity this month that we pray will strengthen the families of our body. JAM (Jesus and Me) for elementary students has been greatly supported and has provided a great lift to our Family Ministry. Even with all of the good that is happening…we are not finished. Our most pressing need is for more Learning Center teachers to invest in our kids, a precious commodity and the next generation of leaders in the faith. We also need Home Group leaders, as many of our groups have grown and are ready to multiply. There are many opportunities for you to roll up your sleeves and get involved. If you are looking for a place to serve, please talk to me, Lamar, or one of our Elders or Deacons. I promise we will find a place for you!
