Letter from the Elders

Lake Valley Family,

It is hard to believe that 2017 has come and gone. It seems like just yesterday we were sitting down as Elders and reflecting on the year 2016. As we look back on this past year, we are reminded of some of the amazing things that God has done among us and through us. Many children in our community who were previously at risk, have found a safe place to call home. Hungry stomachs have been filled because of your support of pantries across our town. Men and women have found some freedom from addictions because you have led them in recovery or have mentored them.

We could go on and on about some of the amazing things that we, as a family, have accomplished. And, as encouraging as this is, let’s take a moment to celebrate something less “dramatic”…the ordinary lives and relationships of our faithful followers of Jesus. Epic projects, events, and initiatives may make big splashes, but communities are really impacted and changed when ordinary Christians live faithful lives where God has placed them.

In 2018, we will be talking a great deal about finding our unique Kingdom assignments. We are going to be deliberate and diligent about equipping you to be the parent, child, boss, or employee you are called to be. Our prayer is that everyone in our family will be prepared and ready to bring the Kingdom of Jesus, as it is in heaven, to Hot Springs. We know that we must invest in For Us ministries that will inevitably create movement to Beyond Us. The year, 2018, is truly just around the corner. Let’s pray now that we will experience God’s pleasure and purpose as we live out our faith where we live, work, and play.
