Life Caddy Retreat
“I think February is a God-ordained time for this retreat, because this is the time of the year when I get tired and need a boost to finish the school year strong.”
– Natalie Manatt
Every human being needs a healthy rhythm of work and rest in their lives, and those involved with student ministry are no exception! This year, the amazing people (a.k.a. Life Caddies) that serve in the student ministry spent a weekend in the woods. It was time for the third annual Life Caddy Retreat at Tucker Lodge on Lake DeGray. The setting of Tucker Lodge is perfect for the goal of the retreat, which is refreshing unity. The time spent around the fire, cooking meals in the kitchen, and exploring nature, offers intimate conversation, laughs, and encouragement that are so needed during the spring semester in student ministry.
The goal for the Life Caddy Retreat is for everyone to leave the experience feeling refreshed, and knowing that they are loved and appreciated. At this retreat, we took time as a group to identify the different gifts we have been given. We did this through sharing stories of our experiences with each other. We also took an online assessment to help bring to light some of the gifts, talents, and passions God has placed within us. This is the highlight of the retreat for me every year. I love hearing each person receive blessing and affirmation from the others in the group. I feel like I am witnessing the image of God being restored in them.
I would personally like to thank our Lake Valley family for supporting the student ministry, our Life Caddies for pouring themselves into the lives of the students, and the parents who are the main source of guidance and wisdom in the lives of their children. – Nate Hall
