But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” Jeremiah 29:7
We believe that the people of God have always been called to be on mission by seeking the welfare of their own community. God, throughout the Old and New Testaments, called His people to care for the poor, seek justice for the abused, and set free those imprisoned by the world and its systems. In fact, James 1:27 teaches that the “religion” that God accepts is one that does these very things…
“Religion our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27
To this end, Lake Valley equips and encourages our people to be active in our community by serving the least, the last, and the lost. This includes attending to the needs of orphans, widows, citizens in or returning from jail, individuals with addictive behaviors, people suffering from abuse, and many more. A large portion of our budget is used to support organizations and initiatives throughout Hot Springs that are committed to meeting these needs. At the time of this writing, we are engaged in over 30 organizations both financially and with our service.
