During the weekend of February 14th-16th, the Revive retreat for Hot Springs area students was hosted here at Lake Valley. Nearly 100 students gathered for worship, teaching, small group discussions, and service projects. Worship was led by the Kasey Earl Band and large group teaching was led by Sean Mills. Ten Lake Valley families opened their homes to house and feed students on both Friday and Saturday nights. Seventeen college students volunteered their time to be counsellors and to lead small groups.
On Saturday, each group had a service project to complete. Some of those projects included:
• Cleaning the garden area and moving equipment to the new youth building
• Cutting and cleaning up a tree at a member’s home
• Helping a member move into a new house
• Collecting non-perishable food for the Little Free Pantry (about 1,000 items were collected)
Many thanks to the Home Groups who prepared pasta dishes and helped serve the youth. Thanks also to the many other church members who are not a regular part of the Student Ministry, but who helped lead the student groups in their service projects, or helped serve lunch on Saturday.
It was a great weekend! Four students made the life-changing decision to follow Christ, while many others were encouraged and strengthened in their faith. Revive was a great opportunity for the Lake Valley family, both students and adults, to live out our mission of discovering life by learning to love and serve like Jesus.
